The Avatar configuration allows determining, whether new user accounts should be assigned user images when they have an email address assigned. You can add one or multiple avatar providers, which may require additional plugins installed.

The order of the providers in this dialog determines in which order the services are requested for an avatar image using the email address of the user. If no provider is added, users have to assign avatar images on their own. Once a service returns an image for the user, the image may also be updated automatically from that service in a 24-hour interval.

By default, there is the Gravatar provider, which can always be added to the list of services. A second provider for BIMI images requires the SVG Plugin to be installed.

Note: Only the first email address of the user data is used to request an avatar from any of the services.
