Events
On this page you learn how to create and edit appointments, set up recurring appointments, and configure reminders.
Creating an Appointment
You can create an appointment with New Event in the toolbar, from the calendar view, or by selecting a time range in Week or Day view. Existing appointments can be opened from the calendar view and edited if the calendar allows write access.

In the New Event or Edit Event dialog, you first enter Title, Calendar, and the time range. All Day switches between a timed appointment and an all-day appointment. Below that, you set Repeat and Reminder. Additional details such as Status, Description, Location, Link, Categories, Color, and Attachments are available in the More details section.
Appointment Details
An appointment contains a title, start and end time, and the calendar in which it is stored.
The upper part of the dialog contains these fields:
-
Title - name of the appointment
-
Calendar - target calendar with calendar color
-
All Day - switches between a date with time and an all-day appointment
-
Start and End - time range of the appointment
-
Repeat - series options for recurring appointments
-
Reminder - notification time before the appointment
The All Day option marks an appointment as taking the complete day instead of a time range.
Note: The end time must be after the start time. Times that do not exist because of a daylight saving time change can not be saved.
More Details
Under More details, you can add optional appointment information:
-
Status - Free or Busy
-
Categories - for grouping appointments
-
Color - custom appointment color
-
Description - additional text for the appointment
-
Link - URL for the appointment
-
Location - place of appointment
-
Attachments - linked files or URLs

The More details section is collapsed when you create a new appointment. It expands automatically as soon as any field below already contains data, for example when you edit an existing appointment. You can expand or collapse More details manually at any time.
Recurring Appointments
The Repeat option creates recurring appointments. The following values are available:
-
No repeat - the appointment occurs only once
-
Daily - the appointment repeats after a configurable number of days
-
Weekly - the appointment repeats after a configurable number of weeks and can be limited to selected weekdays
-
Monthly - the appointment repeats by day of month or by weekday position
-
Yearly - the appointment repeats after a configurable number of years
A recurring appointment can end never, after a defined number of occurrences, or on a selected date.
When you edit, delete, or duplicate an appointment that belongs to a series, the Calendar application asks whether the action should apply to this single appointment, to this appointment and all following appointments, or to all appointments in the series.
Monthly Series by Day of Month
For a monthly series, the day of month can be entered as a positive or negative value. Positive values count from the start of the month; negative values count from the end. The last day of the month is selected explicitly with -1.
-
31means the 31st day of the month. Months without a 31st have no appointment; the next matching month is again generated on the 31st. Starting on 2026-08-31, the dates are 2026-08-31, 2026-10-31, 2026-12-31, 2027-01-31, and 2027-03-31. There are no appointments on the 1st and no silent shifts to the last day of a month. -
-1means the last calendar day of every month: 2026-08-31, 2026-09-30, 2026-10-31, 2026-11-30, 2026-12-31, 2027-01-31, 2027-02-28, and 2027-03-31. -
-2means the penultimate calendar day of every month: 2026-08-30, 2026-09-29, 2026-10-30, 2026-11-29, 2026-12-30, 2027-01-30, 2027-02-27, and 2027-03-30.
Valid values are -31 through -1 and 1 through 31; 0 is invalid.
Reminders
Reminders define when the Calendar application creates a notification for an appointment. Preset values such as 15 minutes before, 1 hour before, and 1 day before are available. Custom reminders allow selecting a custom amount of minutes, hours, days, or weeks before the appointment.
The reminder only defines the notification time. The actual delivery channels are controlled by your personal notification settings. A reminder can therefore be delivered by email, Telegram, another available notification channel, or multiple channels at the same time, depending on your configuration.
Note: A displayed reminder type such as Notification or E-Mail in the appointment editor does not by itself force the final delivery channel.
Attachments and Links
Appointments can contain URLs and attachments. A URL can be opened from the appointment view. Attachments are stored with the appointment and can be used to keep related files together. Both fields are located in the More details section.
Read-Only Appointments
Some appointments can not be edited from the Calendar application. This applies to appointments in calendars for which you have only read permission, to read-only external calendars, and to immutable appointments provided by another plugin. Such appointments can be viewed, but changes must be made in the source calendar or source application.
