Permissions

There are several permissions that allow access to certain functions of i-net PDFC. Permissions can be assigned to users and groups using the Users and Groups manager. Permissions are additive - this means if a user has a permission through one of their groups, the permission is not revoked by also being a member of a group without the permission.

Depending on the activated plugins the following permissions can be granted to a user / group.

Effective Permissions

The detail view of a user only shows the directly assigned permissions. To get an overview of the effective permissions of a user, including permissions provided by groups, click the link Show all effective permissions in the detail view / permissions element of the user.

    • Note: the Comparison GUI plugin and respective permission is required to give users an interface where comparisons can be managed
    • Note: the Web API plugin and Web API access permission is required to allow the restful access to comparisons using the API endpoints
    • either one (or both) of the previous notes have to be followed
  • Publish comparisons: allows users and groups to publish their own comparisons to be viewed by other users.
  • Comparison GUI: allows the user or group to access the Comparison application. Additional permissions are required to create new or modify existing comparisons. If a user is granted only the Comparison GUI permission, only published comparisons may be viewed.

Communication

  • CoWork: allows the user or group to access and use CoWork. Channel restrictions may apply.
    • CoWork Administration: additionally gives the user or group the permission to create new channels and manage existing channels. Administrative CoWork users can delete messages from other users in channels they have access to.
