Chart Tab Data
In this tab you can define which data is to be displayed in the chart and how you wish to group this data.
Fields
On the left-hand side of the tab you will see a list of available fields you can choose for the chart. These fields can be database fields, but also formula fields, SQL expression fields, or summary fields.
To choose a field for the chart, click on it, then drag it to one of the field boxes.
Grouping
In the top drop-down box you can choose whether the chart is to be computed with or without groups.
On Change of One Group
This will cause the chart's data to be grouped according to a single category field. For each distinct value of this field, a group is formed. You can insert as many data fields as you need. For every data field will be one entry in the legend.
The example shows an excerpt of orders and the amount of products beside the average unit price for each of them.
On Change of Two Groups
This will cause the chart's data to be grouped according to two separate fields. For each different value of the first field, a category group is formed. These groups are then themselves grouped according to the series group field - for each different value of this second field, a series group is formed.
The example shows an excerpt of orders and the amount of the ordered products. The series are defined by the distinct products.
For Each Record
This will cause the chart's data to be grouped by each individual record, regardless of its value, i.e. it will cause there to be as many groups as there as records.
The example shows the ordered amount of products and the current amount of units in stock.
For All Records
All data will be put together and there will be no grouping on the x-axis. The x-axis shows as many entries as data fields are defined.
The example shows the amount of all ordered items, the current amount of all units in the stock and the average unit price of the ordered items.
Group Fields / Data Fields
Fields from the field tree on the left can be dragged into these fields to specify the source of the data for creating the chart. To replace a field, simply drag a different field from the tree into the boxes. To remove a field, simply click on the trash can icon. Note that any boxes which are colored red require a field in order for the chart to be successfully created.
Sorting Dialog
By clicking on the sorting icon, you can specify in what way the groups are to be sorted. See the help page for this dialog.
Summary Dialog
Clicking on the summary icon opens a dialog which enables you to specify the type of summary you wish to use on your data, e.g. "count", "average", etc. See the help page for this dialog.
