Mounts

Mounts are connections to external services or servers. User can connect to services with their own users and make their external data available in the Drive - either for themselves or other users using linking. The available connection types depend on additional plugins, such a OAuth connections for Google and Dropbox connections, or FTP. Additional mounts are displayed on the root level of the side navigation.

Mounted resources are available to the owner user only. That means that every user can add individual new external mounts to, e.g. FTP servers, invisible to other users by default.

Restrictions of Mounts

Mounts appear in Drive like Drive's own elements. However, as the mount data is located externally outside the i-net Clear Reports server, mounts are subject to functional restrictions:

  • No permissions can be set, as mounts are only visible to the owner.
  • The availability of preview images depends on the external service.
  • If the data is changed outside of Drive on the external service or server, this change is automatically visible in Drive after 10 minutes at the earliest. Alternatively, the directory action Reload Directory can be used.
  • The Move operation is always implemented in the context of mounts by copying and then deleting. As a result, moved elements are treated as new files, although this is not otherwise necessary in the Drive.
  • External services may impose further restrictions on file and folder names. For example, the use of individual characters or upper and lower case letters can lead to different behavior.
