i-net Clear Reports
i-net Clear Reports is a full-blown reporting solution. It can accommodate a broad scope of reporting needs - from a simple standalone application to a really big Enterprise Web Solution! It renders report templates designed with i-net Designer or Ad hoc reporting.
i-net Clear Reports offers a lot of advantages:
-
Cross-platform: i-net Clear Reports works on all operating systems (e.g. Windows, Unix, Linux, macOS) using Java technology. The Java runtime is included in the setup for many platforms and does not have to be installed separately.
-
Can be directly integrated in Java applications (a web-server is not required)
-
Including the standalone report design tool i-net Designer
-
Ad hoc reporting to easily create reports without specific knowledge about the underlying datasources or report design principles
-
Task Planner to schedule and trigger reports or other actions
-
Comes with an integrated web interface application to run reports (see: Remote Interface)
Remote Interface
The i-net Clear Reports Remote Interface is the most convenient way to access the report server and use its functions. The interface contains several applications to ensure a broad functionality and interoperability.
The Remote Interface offers, e.g. Ad hoc reporting, Configuration Manager, Datasource Manager, Report Designer, Report Drive with browser, Task Planner and Statistics. More applications are on the way.
Accessing the Remote Interface
You can open the Remote Interface in a web browser of your choice with http://<hostname>:<port>/<servletcontext>
- if the report server is running as standalone application (Listener) or service then there is no <servletcontext>
. In this case you can use: http://yourserver:9000/
.
Restricting access
The i-net Clear Reports Server is secured by login mechanisms. The System Authentication will is enabled by default, meaning you can log in with a username / password depending on the platform where the server is running. That usually means you can authenticate with an account that is available in the servers default login system.
-
Windows based server: Use the username / password from your local computer or domain if applicable
-
Linux / macOS server: Log in with the username / password from your local PAM provider
Access is not restricted any further by default. Any user that can authenticate has full access permissions at first. You should check the Users and Groups permissions first to restrict access to the i-net Clear Reports server as required.
